Can we find anything positive regarding the temporary construction freeze on private homes in Judea and Samaria?
You be the judge?
President Obama is politically naïve. By forcing Israel in to a corner by coupling together Judea, Samaria and East Jerusalem, Israel has had no choice but to declare that it can not completely accept the White House ultimatum and will continue building in United Jerusalem. This has forced to the surface the real unsolvable issue between Israel and the so called Palestinians—the status of Jerusalem and the status of the so called refugees.
If President Obama had gone for a piece by piece solution to the conflict—Israel could have found herself negotiating from a position of great weakness—negotiating over Jerusalem after, God forbid, having withdrawn from most of Judea and Samaria.
By including Jerusalem in the equation, the US administration has crossed an Israeli red line, unified an Israeli public which has seen the failure of the withdrawal from Gaza and created pre conditions that preclude either side from negotiating with each other.
After all, why should Abbas accept negotiations without preconditions when the President of the United States has already made those preconditions?
Some are of the opinion that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's agreement to a temporary freeze in home construction is a brilliant political move designed to expose the intransigent and uncompromising nature of the Palestinian Authority whose only intent is to destroy Israel.
According to this opinion, it is a risky yet brilliant maneuver which buys time and keeps the American administration off our backs.
My opinion? Whatever Israel does? The world and the PA will say “it isn't enough…”
So why try to appease the world? Just say “NO”!!! Eliezer
Israel's “right to exist” was expressed best by Israeli diplomat Abba Eban in 1981. He wrote, “Israel's right to exist, like that of the United States, Saudi Arabia, and 152 other states, is axiomatic and unreserved. Israel's legitimacy is not suspended in midair, awaiting acknowledgment. . . . There is certainly no other state, big or small, young or old, that would consider mere recognition of its 'right to exist'

Isaiah 12:2-6
"See! God is my salvation. I am confident and unafraid; for God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation!" Then you will joyfully draw water from the springs of salvation. On that day you will say, "Give thanks to GodI! Call on his name! Make his deeds known among the peoples, declare how exalted is his name. Sing to God, for he has triumphed - this is being made known throughout the earth. Shout and sing for joy, you who live in Zion (Israel); for the Holy One of Israel is with you in his greatness!h
Let those of us who are privileged to live in Israel and those who love Israel not forget that Israel is God's greatest triumph. In these difficult times, when Israel is threatened from every direction and faces almost unanimous pressure to retreat from her Biblical birthright, let us look at the bright side/the silver lining….it is through Israel's continued survival that God is showing the world that He is in charge.
According to man's logic, Israel should never have survived her war of independence in 1948. A people, devastated by the Holocaust with little more than skin and bones and very few weapons to defend herself against well equipped enemies….prevailed! A language revived—a people revived.
“Who is like thee, almighty God...King of the Universe”?
It is through the ongoing miracle of Israel that God is showing the world His Presence, Power and Glory. When someone asks for an illustration of a living God, we can point to Israel and say “God is doing exactly what He said He would do. As God has kept his covenant with Abraham, so God will keep His covenant with us. From the depths of despair, we can call out in His name and pray to the God of Israel….for just as he is keeping His promises with Israel—so He will shine the light throughout all of the world and show that He alone is our source of faith, hope and redemption.
Ezekiel 36:8 “And you, the mountains of Israel, will produce your branches and you will bear your fruit for My people Israel because they are about to come.”
When you come to Israel, you see exactly what God prophesied in the Bible has come to fruition in our life time. What ever it takes, you MUST COME!!!
Look how tiny Israel is in comparison to Australia...and on whom is the worlds attentions more focused??? :)
