Shuva Update and report!

The last few months have resulted in a significant increase in activity. Shuva opened an office in Sandnes, Norway. Hjalmar Svennevik is director and responsible for Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Holland and Belgium.  We attended and presented Shuva Israel at Pastor Ludvig Karlsen’s convention in Norway at the beginning of June and much larger gathering at the end of July. Ludvig is one of the best-known Pentecostal Pastors in Norway and has received a medal from the Norwegian King for his rehabilitation work with the homeless, alcoholics and drug addicts. He has given Shuva his personal backing and has opened up a con../side2rable range of contacts across Norway as well as assist Shuva in expanding its database through direct mail to his newspaper subscriber base of tens of thousands of readers. The Scandinavian office has already sent out four translated newsletters to our Norwegian database. The contacts made in the last several months will lead to expansion in Sweden, Denmark and Holland by the end of the year.  By 2002, we expect to have databases growing rapidly in these four countries as well as in the United States and Canada.

June 20, I met with Pastor Ulf Ekman and Mr. Curt Lati. Curt is director of Pastor Ulf Ekman’s office in Israel. Pastor Ekman is known worldwide and is pastor of the largest “Free” Pentecostal Church in Sweden. Pastor Ekman has been supportive of Israel for many years. This will lead to an appearance in his Church, “Levitz Ord”, located in Upsala, Sweden, approx. 30 minutes west of Stockholm and should help open the door to Sweden…A close relationship has developed with Rev. Willem Glashouwer and Mr. Dean Bye, international and Canadian directors respectively of “Christians for Israel.” The connection with both these friends of Israel will help further our efforts in the United States and Canada as well as lead to a cooperative effort in Holland beginning in late 2001 or early 2002. Thank you Ludvig, Willem, Dean, Hjalmar and all the other wonderful friends that are helping us move forward.

A very special thanks to Gini & Kip Detry, Debbie Kellogg, Rosemary Schindler, Ina Perfido, Grethe Olsen and Finn JarsleSaele. You are friends who never hesitated to share your contacts with Shuva Israel. You got the ball rolling. It is your unselfishness that has accelerated Shuva’s engine forward. Todah Rabah (thank you)!

Below! In the last newsletter, we printed a close up copy of the general architectural plans of our first absorption center in Einav. Below is an overview of the absorption center in relation to the existing homes as well as future building plans. Note that the Absorption Center is in the very center. It will bring many families to Einav and enable them to move in to the surrounding low cost housing units. This is the magic formula for how we will populate the 32 communities of the Samaria Regional Council….. A successful absorption experience that leads to the option of permanent housing in Einav or one of the other nearby community settlements.
